The neighborhood, however, felt unsafe – I was robbed by two men, one wielding scissors and the other a knife, and after a brief scuffle the police caught them. The host was attentive and even walked me to the free collective‑taxi stop the next morning.

The host was really friendly and the place was clean, with a nice terrace for guests to use. The location is pretty far out of town, and we didn’t feel safe walking outside, even just to the nearby shop; on top of that the night was noisy and the showers had no pressure. It’s a tidy spot, but the isolation and noise make it less appealing for solo travelers.

Staying in this typical house let us soak up the local vibe right away. The host only spoke the local language and the Wi‑Fi was down, though we didn’t really need it, so we didn’t bother asking for a fix. Communication was a bit of a hurdle, but the authentic atmosphere made up for it.

The room was spotless and the airport was just a short ride away, which was convenient. Unfortunately the Wi‑Fi kept dropping, the shower barely dripped, and the area felt a little sketchy after dark. It works for a quick layover if you don’t rely on strong internet.

“Comfy stay close to the centre”

I loved the self‑check‑in and the tidy room with a clean bathroom, plus the little kitchen and terrace were nice bonuses. It’s within walking distance of the old centre and the Sucupira market, making it a great base. All in all, a solid stay.
