The place sits right on a walkable stretch to the train station, Ortigia, the port with its tiny beach, a handful of cafés, a supermarket, and street food stalls, and it’s also a good launch point for the hike along the old railway path by the coast. The staff were friendly and did their best to help. The mattress was comfy. The bathroom, though looking new, had a noticeable odor that drifted into the room and felt damp most of the time. The bed, chair, and sunbeds were all worn, shaky or broken and clearly needed replacement. Breakfast was very plain—just a croissant with jam, juice, and coffee; the photos showed fruit but the staff did bring some when I asked, which was appreciated. The walls are thin; I could hear a neighbor on the phone loudly all evening and even woke up once from the noise.
