“My absolute favorite stay anywhere — The Covenstead is magic”
I had read all about The Covenstead and looked at tons of pictures before I booked, so I thought I knew what to expect. It IS gorgeous, quirky, and fun — it has that perfect Victorian, witchy, occult feel you hope for, and then some. What I didn't expect were the extras. It was so warm and inviting. The staff were marvelous — they went out of their way to welcome us and were incredibly helpful. My husband and I travel extensively, and I can honestly say this was my favorite place we have ever stayed. Our room was stunning to look at, but also so comfortable we could have stayed in it our whole trip. The bed was amazing. The blankets were posh and heavy but not hot, the pillows were perfect, and the bed was that ideal blend of soft and firm — it enveloped you. Sleep came easily and we woke up refreshed, not sore. The bathroom had recently been updated with a new tub and a separate shower. Spacious and luxurious. There is a beautiful enclosed garden courtyard in the back where we enjoyed wine and unwinding at the end of busy days exploring Glastonbury. And the biggest surprise — the breakfasts. Made to order and absolutely delicious, served at a massive, ornate, and somehow very comfortable dining table. I cannot recommend this B&B highly enough when visiting Glastonbury. The aesthetic is perfectly matched to the city itself. We will be back. The stairs were a little tricky, especially with mobility issues, but they weren't unmanageable. I would suggest traveling lighter than we did
