The breakfast offered good value, yet the decor looked a bit tired and could use a fresh coat of paint to hide the marked walls. From my daughter’s ground‑floor window, the view was a bunch of laundry cages; we weren’t in the main hotel but in cottages on the side.

I love this hotel; the staff are amazing and the food is good. It’s a good location with great walks and they welcome our dogs. We’ve stayed a few times now and it is great value. Nothing else to add. The rooms could use a bit of updating, but they’re comfortable and clean.

It was in a good spot and the receptionist was very polite and tried to help within her remit. The room smelled very strongly of dogs, with dog hair around the edges of the chairs. The carpet and bathroom floor were dirty. The shampoo, conditioner and shower gel dispensers hadn’t been cleaned in a while, as there was black goo around them. A pair of dirty socks were inside the bed, which made me question whether the linen had actually been changed. It definitely didn’t match the description for the room type booked – deluxe. We couldn’t change rooms because it was fully booked.
