This listed Georgian building features 19 individually designed bedrooms with large original windows, flat-screen TVs, and private bathrooms. This characterful hotel was lovely, with comfy lounges, dining, and outdoor spaces; the location was spot‑on. We dined at the restaurant the first night and the meal didn’t live up to expectations.

The location, on‑site parking, and welcoming staff were all good. We had to wait a long time for the cooked breakfast, and the eggs weren’t cooked the way we requested.

The meals were high‑standard, parking was acceptable though the public car park is only opposite. The bed was small, the bar area felt a bit soulless and could use more décor—it didn’t feel cozy. I wondered if this was the hotel near the station; if so, old photos of trains and the old railway would be interesting.

The staff and service throughout the stay was excellent. Dated interiors , limited dinner menu and quality of food poor!
