“Excellent place. Great breakfast choices. Clean and comfortable.”
The place was spotless and the beds were super comfy, but you have to climb a steep hill to get there.

Breakfast was solid, the staff were friendly, and the bathtub was a nice touch, though the hotel sits a bit far from the ferry terminal—close enough to town centre, though.

The location was decent, but when I texted to say we'd be checking in a day late because of problems, I never heard back; a phone call only rang out. When we finally arrived, the front desk told us we couldn't use the side door (even though it was open) and that check‑in wouldn’t be until 2 pm, even though we were supposed to arrive the day before. They claimed we could check in because “nobody was in our room,” which felt off. I didn’t cancel the booking, so we were stuck. The bedding looked like it was from the 90s—old, stained, and clearly in need of an upgrade. The water pump in room 12 (our room) made a terrible noise that we noticed right away, and when we asked if it could be fixed, they said it had already been repaired but there were no other rooms available, so it was still broken. The mattress left me sore, I barely slept, the room was hot, and there was no extractor fan in the bathroom. Breakfast was mostly deep‑fried, which was a disappointment for a “full Scottish”; the fruit wasn’t fresh and the pastries/cereal were questionable. A lady nearly lost an eye when her husband cut into his hash brown. Cost‑cutting was obvious, with wooden stirrers instead of teaspoons. The host was rude and uninterested, and the dining area— a Thai restaurant at night—left a lingering fried‑food smell. Don’t stay here.

Breakfast was excellent, with a generous spread that included smoked haddock and poached eggs—really great. The host was very helpful, letting us leave luggage in her lounge before check‑in and after check‑out. However, our room had a cracked, damaged bathroom sink, and it looked old‑fashioned and tired.

The decor feels a bit dated.
