Brandreth Barn

The B&B was cozy and traditional, our room spacious and comfortable, and I liked having milk in the corridor fridge—much better than the usual. We chose it because it’s a 10‑minute walk to WWT Martin Mere, letting us leave the car and start birdwatching when the geese flew at 7am until they returned at 7pm. The breakfasts were superb, especially the full veggie option that powered me through the day. Self‑check‑in in the evening was convenient after a long drive, and the staff were friendly and welcoming in the morning. The pillows were quite hard, and I prefer a softer one.

“Country bed and breakfast right next to Martin Mere.”

The location was ideal for the Martin Mere birdfair, with lovely countryside surroundings, good parking, and a room where the TV and heater worked; breakfast was good. However, the bed was too hard and uncomfortable, and there was constant noise from the room above—someone seemed to be walking on a creaky floor all night—so it wasn’t a peaceful night. Also, I should have brought something with me because there was no food available in the evening, not even crisps or biscuits, which made me reluctant to drive alone on country roads at night to find a pub.
