The place was clean and tidy, a small spot to sleep and shower. We were just staying for one night in Margaret River while exploring, hiking and visiting an open studio, so we only needed a convenient place to rest. Because the flat‑like unit is attached to the main house, you can hear each other’s noise, but that didn’t bother us. The access is down the side of the house and the host set us up and kept things private.

The location was convenient to the township since I was attending a performance at the local theatre. The accommodation was adequate, but a few things could be improved. I saw a toaster in the pantry but no fresh bread was supplied, so I couldn’t use it. If bread had been provided, small sachets of butter, jam and marmalade (the type served on airlines) could have been offered for spreading on the toast, and biscuits would have been a nice addition. There was no place to drain dishes because the kitchen bench was taken up by a large microwave oven; if the microwave were on a shelf above the bench, a draining board or rack could fit. The vertical blinds in the lounge room didn’t close properly, and a motion‑sensor light outside the entrance would be useful after dark. To reach the room, one had to manoeuvre through the side of the main house, avoiding many household objects; a dedicated path would avoid that. A squeegee for the shower screen would encourage guests to wipe it down after use, and a towel rack in the bathroom would be a great addition. The fridge makes a loud “clunking” noise every time the motor starts, which is annoying at night. That’s about all.

Breakfast was good. There was no temperature control, and no air‑conditioner control.

The location was easy to find. The host communicated well and answered all of my questions. I had everything I needed. The gate entry latch was a bit fiddly, and I accidentally left the gate open—sorry.
