“A nice stay on the riverfront but don’t expect 5 star in Don Det.”
The hotel sat near restaurants, tour booking offices, and was an easy walk from the boat pier. It was on the river, so you could enjoy the sunset and have breakfast each day. The pool was refreshing after a long morning out. Breakfast was reasonable. The staff made us extra pancakes because they had noisy guests the night before and seemed to be trying to make it up to us. Only one staff member spoke English, but they were helpful. We were given fresh towels and water each day. We can’t expect 5‑star service on an island in Laos, so we were comfortable for our stay. The shower head didn’t work properly and the toilet ran out of water in the cistern every morning. The rooms needed a good scrub and a bit of paint to refresh them. One night we wanted to watch TV but it didn’t work, and the staff who came to look at it said it was broken. We had coffee and cups in the room but no kettle, which was odd.
