“Much to be desired”
I can’t see how anyone would give this place a 10 out of 10, yet that’s what we saw online and we chose it, only to be let down. First, the front desk staff spoke very poor English and nearly cancelled our reservation because they didn’t get that we just wanted to book a local taxi, so we had to walk about 30 minutes. Second, the room wasn’t cleaned at all before we checked in—only the floor was mopped, the towels were filthy with black spots, and the shower gel dispenser was empty. We had to request a change ourselves on the first day, and the same issue happened with the shower gel. Third, one day the cleaning was skipped entirely; the reception blamed a “do not disturb” card, which we never put on because we wanted the room cleaned. Fourth, when the room was finally cleaned, it was still disappointing. Fifth, the reception was unresponsive and unhelpful—no one could guide us, especially about taxis and buses, leaving us feeling lost. Sixth, the carpeted hallways were very dirty, and I couldn’t tell when they were last cleaned. Seventh, everything seemed held together with duct tape and hope, like the elevator panel or the card holder in the room. On the bright side, the beach is very close, though it’s not cleaned and littered with plastic, trash, and bottle glass (not the hotel’s fault). The food was good and tasty, with unlimited water and tea, which we loved. The view from the restaurant floor was spectacular, making it a beautiful way to end the day watching the sunset while dining.
