The place I booked simply wasn’t there when I got to the address – there was no sign of the hotel at all. It was a weird surprise and left me scrambling for alternatives.

The rooms had that abandoned‑house feel I oddly loved, like stepping into a space where a giant spider could roam. It was exactly the kind of off‑beat vibe I was after.

Everything about the stay was spot on, making it feel pretty perfect overall. The only hiccup was that breakfast kept showing up later than advertised, but it was still decent once it arrived.

The hotel is a stone’s throw from the Botanical Garden, Wildlife Centre, Down Beach and the Half Mile bus stop, which made getting around a breeze. The chief receptionist was incredibly helpful and the building stayed quiet despite being central. On the downside, the newly renovated rooms still had a faint paint smell, the mattresses were uncomfortable, and Wi‑Fi only worked in the restaurant and at reception.

Front‑desk staff were always smiling, both the gentleman and the lady, and the rooms were clean with solid soundproofing. The only let‑down was breakfast – it often arrived late and wasn’t consistently up to par.
