The food was modest but adequate, but the owners behaved unfriendly from start to finish, treating us like a burden, no smiles, no thanks, with directives like “clean the snow off the car yourself, it’s yours, throw it in the stream; take your plastic waste away, we have full bins.” The last insult was being served a used napkin.
The mead was excellent, dinner was included in the stay, and the breakfast was plentiful; the room lighting was a “cold white”—white light—while a warmer “warm white”—yellow light—would have been better.
The breakfast was a traditional buffet, yet the homemade bread was excellent. Even though the pension sits on a road, there was no issue at night (in winter the cars moved slowly and the road was not busy). The hosts were eager to help. It was well equipped (for example for skiers) and a nice pension. A bus stop is right in front of the pension; the service isn’t very frequent, but it was handy sometimes. The only drawback, like in almost every pension, was that occasionally you could hear sounds from neighboring rooms, but at night everything was completely quiet.
Breakfast was very good, dinner also tasted fine but felt a bit odd because we couldn’t choose options like at breakfast; a TV or radio would have been nice.
The owners were very friendly, the food was great, the rooms were spacious, and the location was convenient for exploring the Jizera Mountains, but the older bedding was a drawback.
