The location is absolutely amazing, right at the foot of stunning mountains with the Wall on the ridge, literally visible from our bed, and the décor is beautiful and peaceful even though we’re right next to a major tourist attraction. The restaurant served delicious food; we tried breakfast, lunch and dinner there and all three meals were superb, and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful, which we really appreciated. Two drawbacks: first, the bathroom fills up as soon as you start showering, leaving you standing for ages on a soggy mat, and the toilet isn’t separated from the rest of the room, which we found odd; second, we laughed about it but the garden played a Nashville radio station all day – we love country music, but we don’t need it blasting in the heart of China.
