“A fabulous boutique hotel that provides a super base of operations to explore an incredible city.”
The breakfast at the Falconeria was absolutely superb, with a comfortable and intimate setting that never felt cramped. The menu was wide-ranging and the food quality was very good—from coffee and pastries to poached eggs and porridge, and the Eggs Benedict was truly splendid. Its location is excellent, just a few minutes from the heart of Valletta and a short (albeit steep) walk from the City Gate and bus station, even with heavy luggage. The evening was very quiet, making it a perfect base to explore one of Europe’s best cities. Our room was excellently appointed, comfortable, and highly accessible, even with heavy cases. It featured a contemporary style that didn’t detract from the hotel’s historic feel. The highlight was the window box setting where we could sit and watch the world go by a couple of times a day between adventures. The staff were magnificent from our first hello upon arrival to our last goodbye as we headed back up the hill to the City Gate with heavy hearts and cases, adding that special touch that makes a stay memorable. The price per night was higher than we had hoped, which is why we limited our stay to just two nights. It was a treat, but we didn’t feel the premium rate was fully justified by the high-quality staff, great room, superb location, and exquisite breakfast.
