The staff was very, very friendly. The food was also traditional and good. There are nyalas and zebras on the property, as well as baboons. Unfortunately, all the gates to Kruger Park are very far away (about 1:30 h).

Every day we enjoyed the oasis that the lodge was, well maintained, and the landscaping was a feast for the eyes. It was always a surprise which animals would come to graze or drink. We saw zebras and nyalas strolling around, and we were overwhelmed by the many birds. Even though we’re not big on having breakfast and dinner at the accommodation, we were extremely satisfied with the quality of the meals at Kubu Safari Lodge. The food was prepared with love and dedication and was varied, surprising, and tasty every day. Our room was spacious and comfortable with a good bed and a nice bathroom. We even enjoyed the available swimming pool. The guided safaris in nearby private game reserves were well worth it, and the lodge took care of booking them for us. They also recommended a boat trip in the Blyde River Canyon, which we gratefully took advantage of. The staff were all friendly, helpful, and good-humored. In short, our stay was pleasant and relaxing, and we made good use of all the opportunities around Hoedspruit. Three issues: 1) the door to our terrace wouldn’t open because the lock didn’t work properly; this was irritating and should have been fixed. 2) Tap water can’t be drunk; the lodge provides a small bottle of water once a day, which we found too little. You could buy still water there. 3) The lodge mainly hosts groups from organized tours, while we, as a couple, travel independently and plan our own schedule. We had to adjust to this, as the lodge is geared more toward that type of traveler.

Due to the extreme weather, we were the only guests at this lodge. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the lodge itself was very beautiful. Unfortunately, we had to leave early due to the risk of flooding, which was a major letdown. Despite this, the staff's hospitality was a highlight of our stay.

My stay at this hotel was truly exceptional, with every aspect exceeding my expectations. The breakfast and dinner were outstanding, and I felt like I was immersed in a wonderful bush experience. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, making my stay even more enjoyable.
