Set in a quiet forest with a great price‑to‑value ratio, you can bike in the yard in front of the house though not inside, and there’s a shared kitchen; the downside was that the bed wasn’t made—I assumed, given the price, that I’d need to bring my own sleeping bag or linens, and arriving late meant I couldn’t even order breakfast.

Its location and the atmosphere of the place were great, but there simply wasn’t such a thing.

I slept like a log; the spring water that bubbles up from the underground was genuinely soothing and the silence was remarkable.
