The staff, Deebeesh (Dibish?), were ultra welcoming. With perfect English they explained the city and gave advice. The location was also great, just a few steps from Potery Square. The rooftop! However, it is rare that I complain but the room was very dirty (including the sheets) and the shared toilets/bathroom were also dirty. Moreover, there were no windows, only curtains and shutters on a very busy street. I slept about 30 minutes that night. The owner made an effort with the included breakfast, but there were also small hygiene issues (I won't detail). It happens.

The location was good. My room was extremely dirty, with dust that seemed to have accumulated for years, even from older guests, and the toilet was dirty as well.

Ganesh hostel felt like a second home. The owner was very welcoming and kind, often inviting all guests for outings or shared dinners, and he shared a lot of useful information about Bhaktapur and trip ideas in Nepal tailored to personal interests. The owner and staff made me feel like family, always ready to help, and I really enjoyed staying there. The facilities are simple, comfortable, and very affordable, offering tasty tea, breakfast, home‑cooked meals, and laundry service. The location is perfect, right next to the pottery square and very close to the 5‑story Siddhi Lakshmi Temple. When I visit Bhaktapur again, I’ll definitely return. The only drawback is that Google Maps doesn’t direct you straight to the hostel; if you look for the sign on the buildings, you’ll find it, or you can contact Deebesh directly and he will guide you. There’s a lovely upstairs terrace where you can enjoy tea, create art or music, chat with other travelers, or admire the streets, buildings, and people from above.

The staff were very friendly and the breakfast was delicious. Even though it’s a private room, the price is very reasonable. I’ll definitely stay here again if I come to Bhaktapur.

Staying there was a wonderful experience. The owner is very kind, friendly, and welcoming, even taking me to a shop by his motorbike when I asked where to buy a sim card. He speaks English and Japanese fluently and gave me advice about traveling around Nepal. The building is very old, so cleanliness and facilities might not meet your standard, but it’s definitely cleaner than most accommodations with a similar price in Nepal, and the character of the old building is irreplaceable. There’s a nice charming rooftop terrace where they serve a delicious hearty Nepali breakfast. If I go back to Bhaktapur, I’ll definitely stay there again. Hot water for shower costs an extra RS100, which is already pretty reasonable. The owner speaks Japanese very fluently and is very kind. The building has character, the rooftop terrace is cozy, and the breakfast is tasty. I recommend it. The only downside was that there was only one bathroom.
