The place is gorgeous with beautiful rooms, huge beds, and amazing views. The staff are extremely friendly and the food is superb. The shower stayed cold, and the sink is quite narrow.

The rooms were super comfy, spotless, and turned over regularly. The shower was good and the deck outside was lovely. Food—breakfast, lunch, and dinner—was outstanding and a highlight of our visit. The Wi‑Fi was a bit flaky, constantly dropping and forcing us to reconnect, which was mildly annoying.

The scenery was picturesque and the food incredible. We stayed only three nights, and some requests fell through (for example, we ordered morning coffee and it never arrived).

The food at Peponi is outstanding and location was excellent. The hotel grounds are well kept and the view from our room was amazing. The staff was very friendly and always ready to assist. Even if you do not stay at Peponi visit the hotel for the restaurant. We enjoyed the special Swahili dinner at the hotel one night and it was exceptional. Also, after doing a walking tour of both Shela and Old Town Lamu we agreed that Shela is a better place to stay than Old Town Lamu. We stayed in Room 6 and the shower desperately needed to be deep cleaned. The tile grout was moldy and very uninviting. As another guest mentioned, the bathroom needs updating. While I knew when we booked the hotel there was no AC, we found the heat and humidity in November to be more than we could take. It would be a place we would highly recommend if there was a split AC unit installed so guests could sleep better at night. We also found the mattress to be VERY FIRM and uncomfortable

This was my second visit to Peponi and it was a delight. The place is spotless, the staff friendly, and the food is AMAZING! It’s hard to eat the same dishes twice because everything tastes so good.
