The staff and other guests were great. We came for the Chewa Kulamba ceremony, and Elke, the original owner and an ex‑pat from Germany, was super‑kind and showed us around. We also enjoyed meeting the workers and some of the other guests, but we didn’t like our room at all.

The place was dilapidated; maybe it was decent in ancient times, but not now. The shower enclosure was horrible, and there was no warm water at the hand basin.

The campsite was close to the road, so it was noisy all night long, and the price was higher than advertised.

I found a great budget stopover just off the Lusaka route, with a tasty breakfast and a lively centre full of activities; the price was unbeatable and the car parking right next to the hotel felt very safe. The rooms were a bit dated but still clean, and the Wi‑Fi was only available at reception.
