The building dates back to 1635, and that alone made the stay special. My room was on the upper floor and I liked it, though the floor was uneven. The décor was nice and functional, and breakfast was served at the table and was good. Nothing else to mention.

The place faces the inner harbour and you’re only a short walk from most spots, so the location is pretty good. There’s a sheltered smoking area out back. I thought the premium price would reflect a well‑restored heritage building with a modern interior, but it feels a bit overdone and the historic vibe is missing. The ground‑floor room has a nice harbour view, yet if you keep the blinds up to see it, passers‑by can see inside the room, so you really get no view at all. I get that renovating a heritage building takes money, but having lights turn on and running water when you open the tap doesn’t justify the extra cost. The rooms on the upper floors might offer better value, but I won’t be back to test that.
