I could relax and the staff, all family members, were great, but the air conditioning and other equipment felt old.

We had a great stay; as vegans, the on‑site restaurant supplied vegan pho, fried rice, fried noodles, spring rolls for lunch or dinner, and baguette with jam and peanut butter for breakfast, plus free seasonal fruit and a water bottle with each meal. The host set up a cheap boat trip and a tour of local coconut, chocolate, and candy production, which was awesome. We couldn’t do the bike tour because the host’s wife was going into labour, and one night the whole village had a planned power outage, so there were a few hiccups, but overall we still had a great time. It’s an authentic, slightly rustic experience—use plenty of bug spray!

If you want to experience life in a local Mekong village, I’d highly recommend it. Mr T, the owner, is wonderful and speaks great English; his included e‑bike tour around the area was a highlight of my Vietnam trip. The small holding sits in prime upper Mekong, letting you wander the coconut plantations freely. The family is very welcoming, and Mr T stocked our fridge with beer. Nothing else— the accommodation is basic but clean, has good air‑con, and is private.
