“Nice place but far from anything and laundry is bad.”

The staff were super friendly and the rooms stayed spotless, but keep the windows shut or you'll get swarmed by mosquitoes when you return. Kyoto’s train network is sparse, and this place sits far from everything, so expect to shell out for taxis. Also, there’s just one communal washing machine; two loads took over nine hours, so plan accordingly.

The staff went above and beyond, the traditional décor was fantastic, and the pick‑up service was a nice bonus. However, they discontinued the morning coffee, and the location can be tricky to reach depending on which bus you catch.

“また泊まりたい”

The family room was on a single floor, so we could enjoy our stay without hearing surrounding noise. When we unfolded futons for five people, there was no space left for luggage.

The traditional room with futon and a small table was a highlight, and we really liked it; it was very clean, organized, had air‑conditioning, a spacious bathroom, and daily towel changes. The reception staff were very helpful and kind. We appreciated the laundry service and the free shuttle to Kyoto Station. Unfortunately, the hotel does not offer breakfast, even though the price is above average for the area. While we liked the shuttle, its schedule was limited (9:00 or 10:00, 15:00 or 16:00) and required a reservation, which mattered to us since we’re used to staying in the city until late. The public bus from Kyoto Station (20 minutes + 5 minutes on foot) was useful. They don’t provide direct luggage delivery from the hotel. Aside from that, highly recommended for a traditional experience not too far from central Kyoto!
