“complete waste of time / effort / money.”

Nothing at all – not with the service, nor with the empathy. Insects were in the room and my daughter had to call me, traumatized, because she was staying there. No service staff or anyone to help her, so I had to get my sister and her husband to rush over to calm her down and move her to where my sister was staying for the rest of the trip. I reached out, but they could do nothing and the property did not offer any refund. I paid over 2000 for the stay, but my daughter didn’t stay a single night. Customer service only gave textbook replies, and the property insisted there were no insects even though we took a photo. It was harmless or not, but it frightened my 16‑year‑old daughter. I would never stay or book at that property again, and I would think not twice but thrice about using it in the future.

“Best place to stay in Hirafu if you enjoy being comfy cozy and a little community”

The hosts, Aiden and Anna, treated us to a delightful breakfast each morning in a lively communal area with other guests. The hostel itself was very comfortable, making our week-long stay a pleasure. There’s a warm room where you can stash all your ski gear after a day out, so it’s toasty the next morning. We made good use of the free washer and dryer, loved the shower rooms, and even enjoyed a night of lounging in the TV room. The location is perfect for walking around town in the evenings to hunt for food and bars, and there are plenty of excellent options. Our bed was the most comfortable we found on our whole trip through Japan, and the heated floors made our room incredibly cozy. 10/10 – absolutely stay here! Nothing to complain about; we loved everything.
