“10jaar geleden zal dit een echt pareltje geweest zijn.”
The layout of the different rooms on various floors was very nice, but the accommodation feels outdated and definitely needs a refresh.

Located in the heart of Machu Picchu, Gringo Bill's Boutique Hotel offers free WiFi and a prime location, just 150 meters from Manco Capac Main Square. The hotel's 200-meter proximity to the Ministry of Culture and 300-meter distance to Perurail make it an ideal base for exploring the area.

The beds were comfy, the bathroom was clean with plenty of hot water, and breakfast was great, but we were there during two nights of major festivities and political rallies in the main square, so it was noisy well past midnight; the elevator broke on our second night while we were on the fifth floor, making it a bit of a hassle to move bags, though the staff were eager to help when asked. We were excited about the hot tub, but it only fills on request, takes an hour to fill, and can only be used until 9 pm, so by the time we returned from hikes and dinner it was always too late to use it.

It was easy to locate from the station, and the elevator was a welcome relief after hiking or checking in with backpacks; breakfast was good and the kitchen staff were friendly and helpful. We didn’t enjoy the noise from the square outside the hotel during the three‑day fiesta, there was no storage for clothes, and the shower was wobbly and more like a massage than a proper shower, so we couldn’t adjust the setting.

The beds were comfortable, the room was large, the staff were friendly, and the location was great.

We stayed here for a trip to Machu Picchu and the location was spot on: just a short walk from the bus stop to the archaeological site, from restaurants, and from the train station. The staff were friendly and helpful, and our room was spacious and clean, perfect for unwinding after a day of hiking. We didn’t get to try the on‑site breakfast because we left early for the first entry to Machu Picchu, but we were given a breakfast box with a sandwich, fruit, a cereal bar, chocolate, fruit juice, water, and candy. A practical solution that was highly appreciated for early‑morning departures. We especially recommend this place for its strategic location, convenience, and the staff’s kindness!
