Acheron Springs-Markou Ilias

Being close to the river was a plus, yet the kitchen was poorly equipped – no pans, just a single mug, and the kettle was covered in a brown grime. Instead of a clean kettle we received a tiny pan, and the hob was so slow it took about half an hour to get a barely warm cup of tea. The room price felt too high for what was offered.

The property is very close to the river, and it is pleasant to sit outside even on hot days. The Acheron Springs are also very nearby, only about a 5-minute drive away. I really liked the relaxed village atmosphere. The area feels calm, peaceful and authentic, and visiting the Acheron Springs in August was a wonderful experience. The property is a nice place to stay for a few days if you want to be close to the Acheron Springs and enjoy the quiet surroundings

The bed was hard because the mattress was too firm. The shutters wouldn’t close; when the door was shut, corridor light leaked through. The electrical wiring was awful, with exposed connections taped over the bathroom mirror light and over the stove in a cabinet. This wasn’t a 110‑euro room we paid for—it felt more like a barely 50‑euro room.

The location was great and the view was truly beautiful, but the shower was quite narrow, making a comfortable bath impossible. Also, to get the keys we had to call the owner, who then had to bring someone else to hand them over, which wasn’t very practical.

The room was very nice and spacious, and the location right across the river was perfect. However, the Wi‑Fi, though advertised, was unusable, the kitchen equipment didn’t work, and there was nothing to cook with anyway.
