The stay at Lízu blew us away; Carlos’s family was charming and super welcoming, we did a pedal loom workshop and left with a beautiful hand‑woven rug, breakfast had fresh quesadillas on the comal, totally recommend! The only downside was that we didn’t have enough time, we wanted more days to hike with Carlos and his family, but we’ll definitely return.

Juan and Ana were very friendly, taught us how to weave our rug and what life is like in a Zapotec house, and served a fantastic traditional family breakfast. The conditions for guests could be slightly improved, but slowly.

Without a doubt one of the best experiences you can have on a trip to Oaxaca; the Zapotec family is very pleasant, the accommodation is really good, and they offer craft workshops and show you their way of life.
