The place is within walking distance of the big dune, has a large patio, a fenced parking lot (though the entrance is a bit tight), and, not least, a warm and non‑pushy welcome from Omar, the owner. It’s essentially a Bedouin-style retreat; from the outside it looks a bit like a lemen fortress, but inside it’s very colorful. There’s no doorbell or phone number at the entrance, but Omar opened the door right away when we knocked—he knew from our booking a day earlier that we were coming. The Wi‑Fi sometimes drops, probably because of Elon Musk or other satellite owners, not the hotel.
“Wonderful Stay at Dar Mira Dunes”
Walking to the dunes of Erg Chebbi was a breeze, and Omar’s hospitality made the stay a real pleasure; this tiny family business even arranged an ATV ride, camel trek, and overnight camp for us—highly recommended.
