“Service lässt zu wünschen übrig”
The location and the cost were fine. The service was lacking: every request was too much to ask, like having the room cleaned or making an extra breakfast egg when supplies were out.

Located in a 13th‑century monastery in central Gotha, Augustinerkloster Gotha Herberge provides bright rooms—some with courtyard views—and free Wi‑Fi during reception. Guests receive a buffet breakfast, German meals overlooking the cloister, and access to a historic library with 1,500‑year‑old books. It sits within 10 minutes of Schloss Friedenstein, Herzogliches Museum, Art‑Nouvelle Stadtbad, and 3 km from the main train station.

The building is unusual. The room amenities did not match the price.

The breakfast was excellent, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The room was simple as expected but very clean, just like the bathroom. The lounge, the Luther room, was also appealing.

The atmosphere was extraordinary, everything was clean and functional, yet not uncomfortable.

The unique “hostel” that wants to be “not a hotel” – the successful tea‑time on a protected P‑spot in the courtyard.
