The room was warm, cute and cozy, and I liked that the back door opened onto cars passing by; the shower pressure was amazing, leaving my skin clean and soft, and I would have stayed another night, but I’ll definitely return next time I’m in the area.

The location is great with easy access to the surroundings, the room was clean, well laid out, and had all the essentials, Wi‑Fi was excellent, and the facilities were good; nothing to dislike.

The place was warm, friendly, flexible, welcoming, and accommodating. Communication was easy, responses were quick, last‑minute booking worked, and late check‑in was allowed. I loved the welcome treats and the tip about visiting the falls—we enjoyed it! The town is quiet, cute, and quaint, with everything you need and close to many good spots. There was plenty of space for our growing family, so I’d definitely stay again. The lounge and master bedroom had a great heat pump, but the two other bedrooms were a bit chilly; adding extra heaters or blankets would help, or just bring warm clothes for bed.

Martie and the staff are lovely, very friendly and easy to talk to. The location is central, the accommodation is basic, the beds are very comfy, the couch is also comfortable, and there’s a small play area for kids. It’s a great place to stay in what locals call the “dark side of town”—nothing dark about it, just cozy and clean. You literally don’t need anything else; towels, utensils, pots, pans, cutlery, shampoo, body wash, face cloths are all provided. All you need are your clothes, shoes, food, and maybe an extra jacket or thick jersey—crisp mornings and freezing cold nights, wind and breeze feel colder than parts of the South Island. Free Wi‑Fi was a hit with the boys, and the hot chocolate drinks were nice. The only issue was that I wasn’t told I was charged twice; I had to ask Martie myself, and it seemed he did that a lot given all the refund receipts on his desk. He said it was an accidental double charge and had written “refunded” on the receipts, which were reimbursed a couple of days later. That’s the only minor problem.
