The atmosphere feels like family, the facilities are clean and pleasant, and you feel comfortable right away—an excellent entry point to explore the valley of Kein. Highly recommended. The food is great, but you’ll need a car to get around.

The host family was incredibly welcoming, and the hostess spoke English, so we had a great chat. The breakfast was tasty and plentiful. I’d definitely recommend staying here if you’re visiting Kyrgyzstan.

The spot’s location is perfect for exploring Chon Kemin valley, and the family vibe of the place made dinner with the host a real chance to learn more about Kyrgyzstan—one of the best moments of our trip. From the house we could walk to the bus stop in about 5 minutes and catch a marshrutka to Bishkek. The downside? No ATMs in Shabdan and almost everything only takes cash, so bring enough cash with you.

We only stayed one night, but it was a shame we couldn’t extend our visit. The hospitality, delicious breakfast, pleasant conversations, and stunning view were all fantastic. Later, we found a sweet surprise in our car: a few apples straight from the garden.
