“Gorgeous views, clear growing pains in ownership transfer”

The views here are unmatched, offering a gorgeous panorama of the lake and surrounding islands, and we stayed in a large top‑floor room that was great. The hotel is built into the hillside and you can walk down the stairs to the water. The property was recently taken over by Lux, so it feels a bit dated and it is not a 5‑star hotel – guests renting a villa don’t get pool access. We had a problem with another guest: when we arrived the admin told us we could use the pool, but after checking in I walked down to the pool area and found French ladies who had rented a villa, chatting with the chef and the manager. The villa was supposed to have exclusive pool access, yet I was told not to walk past their room even though the doors were wide open. I was confused, thinking they might own the hotel. There was no private access to their villa. My partner later received the same warning, and they implied they feared he might steal their belongings. The ladies should have communicated this through the hotel instead of directly to us. The hotel should have clarified the pool situation and stepped in to mediate.

The view of Lake Kivu from my room was breathtaking, but I was disappointed to find that the stairs were quite steep and might be challenging for older people to climb.

“Magique”

The hotel's location and view of the lake were truly stunning, but unfortunately, the pool was not clean and not usable during my stay.

My stay at this hotel was truly fantastic, with everything exceeding my expectations. The staff and facilities were top-notch, and I didn't encounter any issues during my visit.
