“1 night stay, disappointing”
The location for Aviemore is great, and the hotel accepts dogs, which is a difference from just being dog‑friendly. The pool was good for a 7‑year‑old with a wave machine and a small flume that she loved, the shop was beautiful, and although we didn’t use the soft play area, it looked good. The dog‑friendly room required a lift ride and then passing through many corridors and doors; our dog handled it, but it isn’t ideal for pets. The bedding was clean, yet the room needed a deeper clean—dusty, dirty carpet, bathroom dust, etc. The dog area at dinner had low tables, so we ate on our knees, but the seating area was nice. The location is fantastic; we stayed one night after a week in a house rental. We loved the landmark, steam train, Cairngorm reindeer experience, and funicular. The hotel would be lucky to get 3 stars now, which is a shame because it used to be great but maintenance and cleanliness have declined. I asked to speak to the manager on departure but was given an email address. The reply was polite and offered the best rate for another stay, but I wouldn’t stay again; I’d look at the Premier Inn or elsewhere in Aviemore.
