The manager’s warm welcome was full of pep for her age, the bedding was excellent, breakfasts were generous, and the only missing item was a trash bin in the bathroom; overall a good stay in Sologne.

L'Auberge du Faisan Doré in Saint‑Florent blends rustic charm with modern comfort. A sun‑lit terrace, lush garden, and on‑site restaurant serve classic French cuisine, while a cozy lounge and coffee shop offer relaxed social spaces. Guests enjoy bathrobes, a fireplace, and city‑view windows. Nearby, the Château de Sully-sur‑Loire and Paris Orly Airport provide convenient access.

We drove 700 km and when we got to the closed inn at 23:30 we were left outside with no accommodation, and the place didn’t answer our calls or emails—no response at all. I absolutely do not recommend this place.

The little outdoor terrace was fine, but the reception was a nightmare: the owner didn’t check Booking and didn’t even wait for us. The inn was a mess, the cleaning was missing, there was a strong smell of cat urine, the room was dilapidated and didn’t meet safety standards, including the windows, and the food and drinks were outrageously priced.

The breakfast was generous, but there was no orange juice two out of three days—clearly a staffing issue. The main complaint was the comfort of the beds.

The only thing that wasn’t bad was the check‑out time. The reception was clearly unprepared and odd, the place was old‑fashioned with cold shower water, and we felt awful from the start to the end (we even left a day early). The owner was rude, calling us weird for not wanting to dine, told my wife she was pregnant when she wasn’t, and kept insisting 5 times that the terrace was for dinner even though we said we’d eat outside. In short, the 12 hours we spent there could fill a novel about a catastrophic adventure.
