“Établissement excécrable, à fuir !”
The experience was terrible. After a long flight from Geneva Airport, I picked up a key from a coded box at the entrance around 1 am, only to find the room key didn’t work and I couldn’t enter. There was no night reception (odd for a hotel) and an emergency number I called four times yielded no response. When I finally reached the reception, a night guard kindly handed me another key, which also failed. I went back and forth in a panic; none of the keys worked with the door, and there was no mechanical key. The guard struggled to contact the manager, who after an hour gave me a different room because the original had been announced as “defective,” but that information hadn’t been communicated. Once I finally got into the new room, I asked the guard if I could check out at noon instead of 11 am because of the late‑night confusion, and he said “no problem, I’ll inform my colleagues.” At 11:20 am, an employee walked into my room saying I had to leave and apologized for not being informed of the extension. The room was clean, but heavy construction on the hotel’s street and behind it—jackhammers at 8 am—made the night catastrophic. When I went to return the keys, two reception staff with the gate closed seemed unaware that I wanted to hand them back. No politeness, no professionalism, and no identity verification (despite the legal requirement). The hotel is a disaster; I strongly advise anyone traveling to Annemasse to avoid this brand.
