The staff, the bedroom, the hotel position, the food

The spot is gorgeous, the staff are super friendly, and the food is top‑class. The only drawback was that our room sat above the lounge and got pretty noisy in the evenings, though the staff did remind everyone to keep it down.

The breakfast was served to the table and everything was beautifully cooked; the dinner menu changed daily and although the choice was very limited it was perfectly prepared, and the staff were charming. Hawes is a lovely old market town with beautiful country views, home of Wendsledale cheese, and the cheesemaking demo was delightful as was the sheepdog trial demo. The bedroom and bathroom were very small, though that meant a walk‑in shower instead of a bath with a shower above.

The location is fantastic—just a ten‑minute walk to the village—and the views are stunning; the staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly.

The staff made us feel right at home and the food was excellent, while the room had everything we needed. The only issue was that our room was downstairs and we could hear floorboards creak whenever someone moved upstairs.
