“¡Terrible experiencia!”
What a nightmare – the “resort” felt more like a workers’ dormitory attached to the main house, with a shed for tools and maintenance staff living there. Everything was filthy; the photos say it all. The fan was so covered in grime that no air moved, the bathroom was disgusting, the sheets were stained and stank, and the door fell apart in pieces. They call themselves a resort but it’s just a guesthouse with four bungalows, which says it all. I told the elderly German owners I wanted to leave without finishing the reservation because the neighbor’s cigarette smoke was bothering me; I thought that was less confrontational than saying the place was totally unsanitary, and they agreed to cancel. Still, I had to pay for a night I didn’t use and a day of motorbike rental even though I only rode two hours, just to get the cancellation. I’ve reported this to the booking platform. The owners were very serious, hostile, and condescending. Silvia, the owner, bombarded me on WhatsApp with endless messages asking when I’d arrive, whether I was on my way, if I’d reached the port or boarded the ship, which boats I needed, and that she would be waiting, etc. It was exhausting. Travelers can manage on their own and should understand that. They should put that energy into fixing the basic conditions and cleaning up. I escaped and rented a beachfront bungalow with air‑conditioning, all the comforts, and clean as it should be. I’ve traveled worldwide and simple accommodations don’t have to be dirty and unhealthy.
