The room itself was solid – clean, quiet and comfortable enough for a decent night’s sleep. What really threw me off was the complete lack of any staff interaction: nobody showed up to greet us, no guidance before we got there, and no goodbye when we left. To top it off, they wouldn’t even let me settle the bill on site, which felt pretty crazy.

We were lucky that the four‑bed room didn’t have to be shared – just the two of us, so we had plenty of space, though it can feel cramped when fully booked. The place is right in the heart of Placencia, making it easy to explore on foot, and the owners live on‑site and are genuinely friendly. Keep in mind you have to pay cash when you arrive, and the toilet paper was missing (we had to bring our own).

Silver Sand Hostel blew me away – I booked two nights, loved it so much I added four more. The bed was comfy, there’s an outdoor kitchen, and Coco the sweet dog added a nice touch, all kept spotless. The manager was super helpful, the neighborhood quiet, and it’s just a short walk to the village centre and the calm water.

This spot is literally steps from the beach, and while it’s pretty basic, it gets the job done. It’s cheap for the area, offers a shared kitchen, and because I visited in low season the shared room was empty, so I had the place to myself. Nothing fancy, but it works if you just need a simple place near the sand.

The location, kitchen and cleanliness were all solid, but the check‑in was a mess – we arrived at 5 pm and no one was there to meet us. Later that night the hostel staff threw a party inside the building that went on until 4 am, which was pretty disrespectful to the guests trying to sleep.
