The location was great and everything was clean, yet the place looked a bit run‑down; the air‑conditioner only had two settings—too cold and loud or off—and it was very noisy.

“OK, pero mejorable”

The location was very good, and with a bit of maintenance and tweaks it could be much better; it could be excellent but falls short in everything. There’s a pool but it’s empty, a kitchen but no cutlery, a TV but no Wi‑Fi so you can’t watch anything, the bathroom is fine but the door doesn’t close… and that’s the pattern. It’s a pity because with the facilities and location it could be a 10.

“Good location but lack of amenities”

The spot was great, just a block from the beach and a short walk to all the restaurants and the port, and the staff were super friendly. However, we only had hot water for the first two days, the fridge had no water so we had to buy some, there was no hand soap so we asked for it, no towel change but they did come in and make our beds every day, the bathroom tap barely worked, and there was no hairdryer—basic hotel/Airbnb amenities were missing.

We didn’t stay in that exact hotel; there’s another one on the island with larger family rooms that wasn’t updated on Booking, but we were directed there at the same rate. The accommodation was very spacious with a huge bed and a sofa bed, a large fridge for drinks and fruit, and a sink. You can easily ask reception for anything; we asked for a kettle and got it that day. The pool is tiny but still fun for kids. The hotel is very well‑located, a few minutes’ walk to the beach, and there are several small convenience stores nearby. The island isn’t huge, so you can wander anywhere. We rented buggies at the restaurant just next to Africa Restaurante, which is a must‑visit—delicious and cheap. In short, if we ever return to Holbox (which is almost certain since we loved the island), we would definitely come back to this very affordable hotel. The only downside was that the bay window in our room faced the staircase, so people going up could see into our apartment; we asked for curtains, which were installed that day, but the room lost some light (the living area). Some rooms had balconies, but ours didn’t. We also had a small electrical issue: the bathroom switch is in the shower, and my daughter and son got strong shocks trying to turn on the light; I told reception and they presumably fixed it, at least that’s what I hope.
