I drove all the way from Wellington, half the day on the road, hoping for a good rest, only to be met with a simple apology: “sorry, we had a technical issue and we double‑booked.” They waited until we arrived from afar before telling us, and I had to scramble for an alternative on short notice, which I was lucky to find. Many others had also traveled from outside Rotorua and were in the same situation, and the lack of communication from the owners was frustrating.

The TV had channels, but they were hard to get; it seemed like a normal TV was missing, and I couldn’t figure out how to access them, which was a bit annoying.

The place was very clean and tidy, the shower and bathroom were nice, and the room had enough space for the hand basin and toilet. I didn’t see any staff, but the owner was friendly. The downside was that there was no stove or microwave, the fridge wasn’t cool, water leaked onto the tray inside the fridge, and the bathroom felt cramped around the toilet and hand basin. Outside there was no cover for privacy, and the towels weren’t changed for three days, so we used the same ones throughout.

It’s close to town, but the room was noisy with thin walls, and there was only one cup for coffee and one glass cup, even though I booked for two people.

The refurbished bathroom was clean and private, but the room was hot even with the fan running.
