After several hours of shooting an artistic video on Etna, accompanied by bad weather that, paradoxically, gave our work an incredibly beautiful and dramatic atmosphere, we realized that getting back on a motorcycle had become impossible. We therefore found refuge at Rifugio Ariel, and we could not have been luckier. We were welcomed by the owner with a kindness, simplicity and availability that are truly rare. We felt immediately at ease, almost at home. We also had the fortune of sharing a beautiful conversation with him in the evening and another in the morning, at wake‑up: simple and authentic moments that made this unexpected stop even more special. Even the dinner he prepared for us was truly delicious. It was a great pleasure to spend time here and we will carry a beautiful memory of this Etna interlude. I wholeheartedly recommend Rifugio Ariel to anyone passing by who wants to stop in a simple, welcoming and familiar place where hospitality is still something real. Absolutely nothing negative. To find something negative you would have to have really excessive expectations. In a place like this you come to relax, embrace simplicity and enjoy the moment, not to demand.

Apart from the setting where the refuge is located, truly evocative with that intense pine scent that heightens the atmosphere, I must say I also found the lady who runs the place really good and professional in every respect. Attentive to every detail, courteous and tireless. A trustworthy person in my opinion in every way. The owner is very lucky. Having them around! I did not like seeing a woman alone running an entire mountain refuge that, for goodness’ sake, holds up from A to Z. But I don’t think it’s fair not to support her with another employee for a more equitable division of work. Those who look will find!
Great place to stay, lots of space, the owner is really sweet and friendly and they even give you some wine and food for free. You can park in the street it’s free. It’s a no-brainer
An exceptional stay on the slopes of Etna among fragrant pines! Visiting just after the peak season meant fewer people and a fantastic, relaxed vibe. The host whipped up an amazing impromptu meal for us, paired with local Etna wine. We also absolutely loved the friendly dog who accompanied us during dinner and on our walk. A perfect mountain getaway!
