The Farthings, a Victorian guest house built in 1895, offers traditionally furnished rooms with free Wi‑Fi, flat‑screen TVs, hospitality trays and Duck Island toiletries. Located in a quiet residential area, it lies a ten‑minute walk from York train station, historic attractions and the lively “Bishy” Road’s bars and cafés. Free on‑street parking requires advance permits, and a locally sourced Yorkshire breakfast—English, continental or vegetarian—serves each morning.

The property is perfectly positioned for walking into town, and we also had parking on site, so we didn't have to worry about car parks or extra costs. Absolutely nothing—everything was perfect.

Everything was good from start to finish, and the food was great. There was nothing I didn’t like.

The beautiful York. The room is so full that it feels claustrophobic. The breakfast was very sparse; every morning there was only one croissant and some fruit. I don’t understand why people hype the breakfast. This was the biggest let‑down for us.

Breakfast—huge selection, full English, perfectly cooked, and everything hot. No sea view!
