The variety of baths was impressive, and “Mori no Kodama” turned out to be the most enjoyable, letting me soak in a true onsen marathon; I chose Shiman Tamura precisely because I wanted to linger in an open‑air bath like that. At certain times the pools were practically empty, so I could have them to myself, which added to the appeal of a relaxed soak. The fact that nearby inns don’t allow day‑use bathing probably helps keep the crowd low. Dinner was also very satisfying and tasty, and my friends who joined me thought it was a great choice. One small but nice touch was being able to swap my damp yukata and towel for fresh ones after the bath.

The scenery was nice. The facilities felt way too old and lacked any sense of cleanliness, and the futon‑mattress combo was a first for me and made for a restless night. The bath was far too dark at night, and the indoor hot‑water supply was sluggish.
