We stayed for three days and it was fabulous. The beach was only 100 metres away, far enough from the road to be peaceful, and the driveway felt miles away from downtown Mirissa’s bustle. Both Lasanthi and the very smiley Dinasha gave us a great welcome. The immaculate, spacious third‑floor room had a large balcony surrounded by dense vegetation, which attracted many birds and a few small monkeys that perched on the balcony. We spotted 18 different bird species right there, which was a real delight. Local shops and cafés were nearby, and the main strip is about 1.5 km long, starting almost immediately after the drive. The beach is accessible via a small alley almost opposite the property; if you have goggles and a snorkel, you can swim and see turtles almost immediately. Alternatively, you can hire them from the friendly beach guys for 500 rupee an hour, and you’ll almost always see turtles. All was good.
