The team was incredibly welcoming and helpful throughout our visit. The restaurant was thoughtfully laid out and felt like an excellent extension of the traditional pub vibe. The Sunday roast was outstanding, and the wine list matched that quality. A good selection of beers and ales was also available. Breakfast was superb. We slept in an attic room that was lovely; the steep stairs and low beams add to the charm of an old building and won’t deter me from coming back. The large bathroom, with a separate bath and shower, was a real highlight, and the bed was exceptionally comfortable. Everything was spotlessly clean. The location is wonderfully tranquil, close to local amenities yet away from the busier tourist spots, making it a perfect place to relax.

The pub itself was quaint, with two lads in the bar who were friendly and the atmosphere was atmospheric. Breakfast was very good. I was woken up at 7.15 on Tuesday morning by builders right beneath our window, sawing and hammering. No notification was given about the construction. The evening meal in the restaurant was overpriced for what it was. They tried to be fancy with foams and garnishes but couldn’t even offer us any kind of potato other than chips! The portions were small, especially the venison and duck, which were tough. The room was OK but very small, which was a bit disappointing.

The hotel was beautifully presented with very comfortable beds and excellent food. The same issues as above.

Old world charm with modern convenience. Great food. Lovely quiet location . Be prepared for a steep and twisty climb if you book the Attic Room! It's worth it when you get there
