“Perfect Get-away”
Staying in this charming French village, perched above the Allier river in Auvergne, was a perfect escape into peace and charm, with solid stone buildings and winding cobbled streets offering stunning valley views. Estelle and Eric were flawless hosts—friendly, welcoming, respectful of privacy yet instantly available when needed. The Chambre du Moine was spotless and beautifully furnished, featuring shuttered windows, warm wooden floors, a small buffet console with a china tea set, coffee and tea making facilities, a chest of drawers, two rows of hangers, a couch, a coffee table, and a bookcase built into the stone wall stocked with extra reading material. The beds, complete with side tables and lamps, were comfortably soft, topped with generous plump European pillows and crisp white French linen. Estelle added delightful touches like fresh flowers and magazines. The ensuite bathroom was compact but adequate, and the entire unit was immaculate. A small refrigerator, plates, glasses, cutlery, and a sink were available at the ground‑floor entrance. I was lucky to call it my home for three weeks and left with many happy memories. Grab croissants each morning from the nearby village bakery, enjoy a continental breakfast, then explore the beautiful region.
