The family room with futons was a charming old‑school hotel, clean and staffed nicely, with a nice view of the castle from our room. It is close to supermarkets and restaurants. The amenities feel a bit dated but still work fine; for example, the AC can be a bit noisy if you are a light sleeper.

The location is great, but the place needs an update.

It’s a paid lot, but there’s a parking space and even when it’s full there’s a nearby (about 30 m away) partner lot, which was convenient. I chose a smoking room because it was cheaper, yet the cigarette smell lingered and was noticeable.

Since the room isn’t a traditional bed, it works really well for families with kids, making it my top pick when staying near Okayama Station. The shower head needs replacing; the water comes out so thin it feels like a sting when I turn the tap.
