What stands out is the remarkably open and friendly nature of our hosts. From the moment we arrived we were greeted warmly and given a tour of the property. Both were always concerned about our well‑being and went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. We were treated to a wonderful breakfast each day and received detailed information about local sights, suitable parking for our outings, directions and hiking routes, as well as which restaurants and eateries are highly recommended. Even in the evenings they made time, if we wanted, to sit together and chat, never being pushy. Our host even hung the Bavarian flag for us upon arrival – we found that funny and very thoughtful. The rooms are being renovated gradually. Even though many furnishings are a bit dated, the absolute cleanliness is striking and you really feel transported back in time. The accommodation is perfect for exploring the nearby area (on foot directly from the property) or by car about an hour to Goslar, Quedlinburg, Teufelsmauer, Grenzweg, Blankenburg, … the Harz has countless possibilities and just waits to be discovered and trekked.
There was absolutely nothing to complain about. The place was exactly as described – the photos match reality. Only when entering the town of Zorge did we have a brief moment of worry whether this seemingly deserted spot was really the right choice for us.
