“Expensive, dated with poor customer service.”
Location and parking good. The room was a good size, overlooking a traffic free space. It was light and included a sofa and chair, so felt roomy and comfortable.Food good including room service and plenty of alternatives in the immediate vicinity for eating. In need of updating, quite shabby in places , carpets needed replacing, decor in need of a refresh. The beds were unusually small for an American hotel, so a bit cozy for a couple. The mattresses were very soft so quite uncomfortable to sleep on. Only one tiny elevator was working during our stay. We could not get all our luggage and a stroller in. Our room was not refreshed during our stay - beds not made, bins not emptied. This may have been due to the problem with the elevator. We did not complain as the hotel appeared to be under-staffed. When requesting information about room-service ,as there was nothing in the room, reception staff had nothing to offer me either and told me to look at the website. I ended up photographing the restaurant menus and ordering by phone. More staff and more staff training needed. Spa area and gym in the basement smelt mouldy. This was the third (and most expensive hotel) of a 3 centre holiday. It was the least successful mostly because of the inadequate customer service
“Super centralt beliggende hotel. Et godt sted at bo, tæt på havnen hvor der sker en masse.”
The hotel was very centrally located in Old Portland. Parking was easy, with valet service available. The staff were sweet and helpful. The downside was the many stairs that made carrying luggage difficult. We didn’t try their spa, as it isn’t advertised and it’s quite pricey.
The location was great, the bed was comfortable, and the room was fine; towels were plush but the bathroom felt a bit tight. Most staff were excellent and we had a very positive overall experience, but the evening bartender in the lounge was a notable exception. While my group of six adults and two children were playing games, I took a small chocolate bar out to eat. The bartender sternly told me that hotel policy banned outside food in the lounge, repeatedly emphasizing the “hotel policy” in a rigid, unnecessarily confrontational way. We had been allowed to use the lounge for our own games and had ordered coffee and desserts from the hotel that evening. I understand reasonable policies, but the tone and handling of the situation were surprising and made me feel reprimanded for a chocolate bar, which detracted from an otherwise enjoyable stay.
“Beautiful stay!”
The hotel is gorgeous, the room is well decorated, and the view of the front courtyard is fantastic.
The location was great, close to restaurants and shops. The only issue was that the shower stalls lacked handrails.
