It’s literally an oasis once you step inside, though the room could use more storage and a trash can; I’d rather make coffee in my room, but the courtyard coffee was superb and better quality, so it still counts as a win.

The place is charming, I especially enjoyed the tower for sunset viewing, the included breakfast and pool were nice, beds were comfy, and everything was clean, but I booked without knowing it wasn’t ADA compliant—there are irregular steps everywhere that make wheelchair access impossible and are hard for an older person with bad knees; the hotel markets itself as a beach locale, gives beach bags, towels, and a packed lunch, yet the beach is hard to reach: you have to walk several blocks to a crosswalk, then down a steep hill and steps to get to the beach, which they say is a 10‑minute walk but you’re expected to carry a big bag; the ocean views are nice but access is cumbersome; I found it odd that both arugula salad and charcuterie appeared on the breakfast menu when there were other more typical options, though the breakfast itself was fine; the decor was not to my taste, though each building had its own charm.

The massage on site was fantastic—professional, relaxing, and suitable for both solo and couples. Breakfast was great with plenty of choices, and the welcome drink plus champagne that came with the spa treatment was a nice touch. Parking, however, is tricky between the pillars beneath the historic building; taking Ubers around town might be easier, especially if you’re celebrating, but that can be freeing.
