“With a some changes and additions to the family suite the stay could have been very good.”
The family suite rooms were large, attractive, and reasonably furnished, with very comfortable beds. Each room had its own air conditioner, all of which worked great. There were clothes wardrobes with some hangers. There was an iron in the wardrobe, but I did not see an ironing board. There were plenty of big screen TVs which appeared operational, although I didn’t watch anything. The hotel appears very clean, with an interesting modern look. The pool is beautiful and adds to the ambiance. Although their English was not perfect, the staff was friendly and helpful. They were able to print out my boarding pass. I hope that these comments can help the hotel make some fairly easy changes which would greatly improve the family suite guest experience. We are sorry to report that we were very very disappointed in our stay, because many aspects of Ocean Winds were excellent. I stayed in the Ocean Winds family suite Wednesday afternoon through Monday morning, and this review applies specifically to that suite and may not apply to a regular room. We rented the family suite because it had a very nice kitchenette with apartment sized refrigerator, coffee maker, two burner cooktop, sink, coffee maker, kitchen counter, drawers and cabinets, as well as large four person kitchen table and chairs. I was shocked to find out that, except for the refrigerator and coffee maker, all this was worthless because not only was there not a single pot or pan, there were no plates, bowls, dishes, flatware or utensils – in fact unlike any other hotel I have ever stayed in there was not even a cup or a mug. Why a hotel would go to all the trouble to create a very nice kitchenette and dining area, and then not provide the necessary equipment to use it is beyond understanding. I went to a grocery store and bought some paper and plastic products, but still had no way of heating or cutting anything. Each of the two bedrooms had its own bathroom, but only tiny one inch diameter soaps -- no shampoo, conditioner, body wash, or tissues. There were plenty of towels and toilet paper. It did not matter to me, but there was no hair dryer. The living/dining area and both bedrooms had large very bright overhead lights, but there was not a single lamp in any room, despite both beds having a large nightstand on either side. Outside the room, until after 10:00 every night, the hotel plays loud music with a huge speaker in a completely empty public area, possibly so the music drifts up to the restaurant on a level above. Fortunately the bedroom furthest away from the public area was nonetheless quiet. Strangely, the hotel wanted me to wear a plastic wristband, which I refused
